Victorian Phrenological Head Design

Well, that was certainly a mouthful. Victorian Phrenological Head Design. There, easier said the second time :) So this piece is an experiment. First off, Phrenology is the detailed study of the shape and size of the cranium as a supposed indication of character and mental abilities. (Thank you, Google) I like the idea of repurposing old forgotten art and making it new. I did some research, came up with a color palette and created this collage/design. I created it entirely in Adobe Illustrator. The head chart and background lettering are images from the 1800s and I used a font called 1820 Modern Normal. In 1820, Phrenology was at its height and centered in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Here's what you get:

  • All images are RGB color and 300 DPI. Size is an extra large format of 30" x 40"
  • 2 PDFs - one has the full collage and one has no text at all
  • 1 Adobe Illustrator File (AI CC 2015) with all layers and outlined font. (sorry, font is not included)
  • 1 EPS File (AI CC 2015) with all layers and outlined font. (sorry, font is not included)
  • 1 JPG - The chart without the handwritten letter behind the head.
  • 1 PNG - Colored chart without texture, text or letter on a transparent background.

Please note: You are purchasing digital art files for you own design purposes whether a DIY home decor or on a product you your own creation. Pillow and T-Shirt design are solely for inspirational purposes only and not included.
