Hot Mess! SVG Font
About
⭐ Opentype-SVG Fonts are now supported by Procreate 4.3! Check out my video tutorial here; https://youtu.be/Eu9SKPNWzA4
❗Please note: The SVG version requires Photoshop CC 2017, Illustrator CC 2018, or Procreate 4.3 (or newer) to use. However a Regular version is also included in a traditional font format which is widely supported.
It's bold, brazen, and irresistibly fun - it's Hot Mess! A super realistic hand brushed SVG font just raring to get going. Hot Mess uses new Opentype-SVG font technology to provide high resolution watercolour paint strokes completely built in to the font as a transparency - just simply type away and let the font do it's magic. It's guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on social media posts, advertisements, posters, products packaging & more.
Here’s a run through everything included in your download;
Two font files;
Hot Mess SVG.otf – SVG version of the font containing high resolution, built in watercolour textures (Requires Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 or Adobe Illustrator CC 2018 or newer).
Hot Mess.ttf – Regular version of the font; Use this version if you need the font in a traditional vector format, but still maintaining an authentic rough hand brushed finish to it’s edges.
Ligatures • Both Hot Mess fonts include 17 ligatures built in to the font. These letter pairs help to create authentic, naturally flowing hand-lettering. Ligatures are supported by most desktop graphics & text software (not just the fancy ones!), including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Word, Pages & Keynote. Ligatures will automatically be switched on when using supported software.
Language Support • Is provided in the Regular TTF version only, for the following languages; English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Indonesian, Malay, Hungarian, Polish, Croatian, Turkish, Romanian, Czech, Latvian, Lithuanian, Slovak, Slovenian.
The SVG font contains the following accents which can be manually added to your letters; ¨ ˜ ´ ˆ ` ˚ ˘ ˛ ¸
Swashes • Both the SVG and Regular versions include 4 swashes; use these to underline your script text and add a stylish finishing touch. Simply type any of the square brackets to generate a swash [ ] { }

Hot Mess (watercolour) I love the look of this but I can't change the colour of this font? Only possible to use in Black? Can't convert to outlines either?? Since using the YouTube video I still can't select exact PMS/RGB colours.. only using the sliders.

Hi Nicole, thanks for your purchase. Please, please do contact me before leaving a 1* review as I put months of work into this and would be more than happy to help you.
The SVG version uses Opentype-SVG font technology to include the letters as actual raster/bitmap images, not vector shapes. This is the only way to include those built-in watercolour textures as a transparency, but it's also why they can't be coloured in the traditional way or converted to outlines. You can't pick exact RGB colours because it's not a solid object, it has a varying transparency of pixels which is how those textures are made.
You can still change the colour of the SVG font in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Procreate. Please see the video tutorials I've made listed below, showing how;
Photoshop (start at 1.38); https://youtu.be/KNX8k1IWics?t=98
Illustrator (start at 1.53); https://youtu.be/KNX8k1IWics?t=113
Procreate; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSJ_nYP1QcU
If you want to pick an exact colour for the font in the traditional way or convert it to outlines, I've included a regular (TTF) version of the font, which can do that. This is in the traditional vector font format but does not have the built in watercolour textures, it's not possible to do that with a traditional font, only with the SVG version.

LOVE this font, but currently having an issue with the SVG where I can not seem to change the colour of the font! It stays black no matter what. I should say I am using it in the newest InDesign, is it because the font is a vector and I should be using it in Photoshop or Illustrator?

Thanks so much for your purchase! Ah yes, unfortunately there's no way to re-colour SVG fonts in InDesign yet - because the SVG font is made up of bitmap (raster) images, it can't be coloured in the traditional way. You'll need to use Illustrator or Photoshop to re-colour, here's a tutorial showing how; https://youtu.be/KNX8k1IWics?t=78 - you could then copy and paste or drag the re-coloured layer into InDesign. If you use the regular (non-SVG) version of Hot Mess, you can colour the font as normal in InDesign, it just doesn't have those built in textures (shown in the 8th product image above). Thanks! Sam
