Still, nothing could have prepared us for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pantone.com\/press-release-pantone-unveils-color-of-the-year-2018-pantone-18-3838-ultra-violet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ultra Violet<\/a>: a galactic, deep purple shade that is about to take the world of design by storm. In words used by the Pantone team this morning, &#8220;Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.&#8221;\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/d3ui957tjb5bqd.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2017\/12\/16231522\/pantone-color-of-the-year-2018-ultra-violet-lee-eiseman-quote.jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"632\" height=\"632\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-48249\">\n<h2>What Purple Represents<\/h2><p>\nWe&#8217;ve covered some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/creativemarket.com\/blog\/color-meaning-facts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emotions associated with different colors<\/a> here before. Purple, in particular, is often linked to terms like soothing, exciting, and calm. In a study on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/263155881_A_study_on_brand_personality_Consumers_perceptions_of_colours_used_in_fashion_brand_logos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fashion brand personality<\/a>, purple logos were significantly associated with sophistication, including traits like &#8220;feminine&#8221;, &#8220;glamorous&#8221;, and &#8220;charming&#8221;.\nAs a color, purple is the result of combining red and blue in different proportions. Warmer purples (like lilac) contain more red and cooler purples (think periwinkle) contain more blue.
