When nature is giving you such monumental design inspiration, it&acirc;&euro;&trade;s best to run with it, which is what coastal&acirc;&euro;&trade;s proponents have done to great effect.\nIf you&acirc;&euro;&trade;re looking for a great descriptive term for it, &acirc;&euro;&oelig;minimalistic elegance&acirc;&euro; is probably the most accurate. Every aspect of this design trend is intended to provide some sort of escapism and reprieve&acirc;&euro;&rdquo;whether visual or spatial&acirc;&euro;&rdquo;from the stresses and rigors of everyday life.\nDone right, coastal design is effortless. Mankind has always been in and around the beach since the early days of our civilization, so it&acirc;&euro;&trade;s just naturally been a part of our environment. However, the actual intention of incorporating this laidback design aesthetic into graphics, the web, and interiors had to originate somewhere. <em>Where did that spark come from?<\/em>\nIt&acirc;&euro;&trade;s safe to say that its origins can be traced back to the world&acirc;&euro;&trade;s most famous beach community, the Hamptons, which is where we also get another name for this design trend: Hamptons style. Located in Long Island&acirc;&euro;&trade;s South Fork, the Hamptons is a series of villages and hamlets that actually started out as a humble farming community in the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century. Today, of course, the Hamptons is synonymous with wealth and elegance: the destination of choice for not just America&acirc;&euro;&trade;s rich, but the world&acirc;&euro;&trade;s.\n&nbsp;\nThanks to pop culture shining a spotlight on the area, people around the world began to take notice of its environment and atmosphere, which wasn&acirc;&euro;&trade;t just about the wealth. The area also possessed magnificent beaches, sumptuous residences, and an upmarket, preppy vibe that captured the imagination.\nSome examples of the Hamptons in pop culture include:\n<\/p><ul>\n \t<li><em>The Pruitts of Southampton<\/em> (TV series)<\/li>\n \t<li><em>The Real Housewives of New York City<\/em> (TV series)<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Royal Pains<\/em> (TV series)<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Revenge<\/em> (TV series)<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Weekend at Bernie&acirc;&euro;&trade;s<\/em> (movie)<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Something&acirc;&euro;&trade;s Gotta Give<\/em> (movie)<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Inside Job<\/em> (movie)<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>\nAs more audiences were exposed to this part of the country over the decades, they began to notice the distinct design and d&Atilde;&copy;cor of the area&acirc;&euro;&rdquo;and sought to replicate it in their own lives.\n<\/p><h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Characteristics_of_Coastal_Design\"><\/span>Characteristics of Coastal Design<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><p>\nIt&acirc;&euro;&trade;s important to note that the Hamptons hasn&acirc;&euro;&trade;t been the only inspiration for coastal design. For starters, the magazine&acirc;&euro;&trade;s <a href=\"https:\/\/creativemarket.com\/blog\/logo-design-terms\">wordmark logo<\/a> uses a seafoam-y, bluish-green color that immediately makes readers think of the relaxed, beach atmosphere of the tropics.
