Display font Higgs Boson Blues — Higgs Boson Blues is a handmade bold display type, in the tradition of American wood type. It comes in two font formats OpenType-SVG bitmap and standard vector font.

Every character has been hand carved onto lino and hand printed with waterbased ink. This gives the OpenType-SVG font an impressive amount of texture and detail. It gives it a weathered almost stamped like appearance.

I aimed to create a wood type font that is reminiscent American type from the early 1800's. Its got that western vintage style about it for sure.

It has all that lovely grunge detail that only block printing by hand brings—the standard vector font is not too shabby either.

Also, the SVG font is all set on a transparent layer, that means you can quickly change the colour in Photoshop or Illustrator. (see below)

Higgs Boson Blues usage

If this typeface were a celebrity it would be more Clint Eastwood than Chuck Norris, but Chuck can still make a campfire by rubbing together two ice cubes—ledgend.

The typeface is suitable for a wide range of creative designs but works best to create that vintage look. Everything from logos, letterheads, headlines and t-shirts to retro packaging, book covers and beer labels.

If you are after that authentic letterpress style, Higgs Boson Blues might be a match made in heaven.

OpenType Alternatives

Each uppercase and lowercase character has three alternative versions. Very handy to make your lettering look different, more random like real block printing. Just access the alternatives via your glyphs panel and switch out any repetitive letters.

OpenType SVG, please read

OpenType-SVG bitmap fonts are the new kid on the block. Support for them is limited but growing.

They only work in the latest versions of Photoshop CC2017+ and Illustrator CC 2018+, plus a handful of other native OSX apps. They also work on the more modern versions of windows again only in Photoshop CC2017+ and Illustrator CC 2018+.

Windows users might not see your letters when you install the font. But it does work in the applications mentioned above.

Adobe Indesign does not fully support OpenType-SVG bitmap fonts.

Image backups

If your software is too old I've provided high-resolution images, so you can still manually compose letterforms inside photoshop or your application of choice.

Traditional vector font included

A traditional vector font is included, it's not quite the same as the SVG version (not as much detail) but it will work in any graphics application.
