How are images featured in Lucidus?

The featured image should be set up using the featured image option on individual posts and pages rather than inserting the image into the content editor. If desired, you may also put images in the post content in addition to the featured image or gallery. If no featured image is set, Lucidus will automatically search through your post content for an image to feature. If there are no images there, the fallback image (configurable in the Customizer) will be used as needed.

Why are featured images small or blurry?

If your featured images are displaying blurry, try activating the Jetpack plugin's photon module. Also make sure that the uploaded image is at least 1600x900 pixels. You can also use the "regenerate thumbnails" plugin to ensure that WordPress has generated the appropriate image sizes.

Slow Loading, Featured Image Sizes, and Retina Support

After extensive testing, featured image display had been optimized to maximize image quality while minimizing loading time. Images are automatically sized to 1600x900 pixels on upload and the full size image is available when users click the full sized image button, giving visitors access to higher quality versions. Even with this optimization, users on slower internet connections may experience unavoidable delay in images loading for certain posts. Because Lucidus is extremely image-oriented, your site may take some time to load, but the results are definitely worth the wait!

Can I install this theme on my WordPress.com hosted site?

No, this theme can only be installed on your own self-hosted WordPress site.
