Vector Caricatures - Smiling Faces

My artist/illustrator husband, Nick Towne, has decided to collaborate with me! This is the first Facesheet installment, a set of twenty hand-rendered vector caricatures.

These diverse illustrations all depict males and females of various ethnicities expressing cheer and contentment. Each face is imbued with personality, and even tagged with a name (as can be found in the Layers window if using Illustrator). The faces were created solely in Adobe Illustrator, using original brushes that are included with the set. Their illustrative style is geared toward the loose, deliberate tone of illustrations found in the classic parody magazine, MAD. (Big Mort Drucker fan, here!)

As these faces are built with vector paths and shapes, they are all thoroughly editable in Adobe Illustrator. If Photoshop is being used, each face (in both grayscale and color) is included in a transparent PNG file, scaled to maximum width or height at 3000-4000 pixels.

Breakdown of items and formats in this set:

  • One grayscale set of 20 faces in an .ai file
  • One color set in an .ai file
  • 20 individual grayscale faces in transparent .png files
  • 20 individual color faces in transparent .png files
  • 14 “Inky” Illustrator brushes that were used to create the caricatures

Possible uses include:

  • Unique and quirky avatars that stand apart from the usual tidy, cute and flat
  • "Art starters” for digital artists
  • Goofy meme creation
  • Printed paper crafts
  • App design

If you like these faces, please note that more are to come. Future Facesheets will be ranging in theme and illustrative style. Thanks for checking it out!

Feel free to message Nick for discussion regarding freelance illustration.
