Basic Underline title for FCPX

Live Preview

Some features:

Only the first line is underlined.

The underline always follows the text wherever placed on the screen.

The underline follows the text alignment. When you change from Left, Center, Right or Justified, the underline auto-adjusts.

The underline automatically sizes to match the width of the text box (if you use multiline, then it will match the width of the widest line).

The "underline" is adjustable from over the text to below it.

The line "thickness" is adjustable (from "hairline" to 72 pixels.)

The line can be the same color as the text OR optionally customized. The underline is behind the text.

The title should work on any video size up to 20K.

Some font metrics may cause the line to be "off-center" - there is an X offset to correct that.

Drop Shadow is added to the effect. Use the Title drop shadow and not the Text (inspector) drop shadow.

This will still work to some degree with 3D Text, but it will not appear 3D and you will have to use Custom Underline Color (it loses connection to the text color and it will also lose connection if the 3D text is rotated but retains its proper 2D properties.)
