What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Our e-pub licenses are best for ebooks and digital magazines - where you would want to embed the fonts directly into your files. Here’s a helpful walk through on font use in e-books! What’s Included

Liquid Font is a new set of 3 full color bitmap fonts with 94 glyphs in each color combination including the basic english alphabet in uppercase and lowercase, numeric characters 0-9 and basic punctuation. Each multi-color version of Liquid Font is included in the following formats:

Installable color Bitmap Font (OTF) for use in Photoshop CC 2017 or newer (See technical notes below.)
One .PSD file per style with glyphs isolated on individual layers including baseline guide.
Individual PNG files per glyph with transparent background for use in other graphic editing programs

Technical Notes

Color Fonts are currently only fully supported in Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 or higher. OpenType-SVG fonts have recently been adopted as the industry standard, so wider support in design programs, operating systems and browsers should be coming soon! For more information please see the links below.

Note: Because these are multi color bitmap fonts you cannot currently change the color as you would with a standard bitmap font.

How to use the font

Install OTF font files as normal. Please note that at this time font previews will not work in most font management programs including default operating system previews but fonts will appear as expected in Photoshop documents.

You may also use the .PSD and PNG files to manually generate your own headline text in the graphic editor of your choice that supports these formats.

Kerning for the OTF fonts may need some manual adjustment at this time.

How do I contact support?: For questions about this product, message the Shop Owner via their shop profile. For all other questions, like licensing or billing, visit our Help Center.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
