Logo Grid Generator – Construction Grids for Illustrator

Turn any logo into a clean construction grid in one click. Logo Grid Generator is an Adobe Illustrator script that reads the shapes in your logo or wordmark. It then draws the guides, circles and clear space you’d otherwise spend an hour drawing by hand. It’s ideal for brand guidelines, logo presentations and portfolio case studies.

How it works

1. Select your logo in Illustrator. It works with paths, compound paths, groups and live type.

2. Run File > Scripts > Logo Grid Generator.

3. Choose what to show and watch the grid update live on your artwork.

4. Click Generate. The grid goes on its own “Logo Grid” layer, so your artwork is never changed.

Key features

• Construction circles fitted to your curves. Circles are drawn only where a curve really is a circular arc, so ellipses and S-curves don’t get misleading circles.

• Anchor guides: horizontal and vertical lines through every anchor point, with near-duplicates merged.

• Construction lines: angled straight edges and curve tangents extended, to show the angles your logo is built on.

• Bounding boxes: for the whole logo and for each letter or shape, plus centre axes.

• Anchor points and Bézier handles, for “how it’s made” presentation slides.

• Clear-space frame with “x” unit markers, sized as a % of logo height or width, or in pt or mm.

• Modular grid, with square modules or a set number of rows.

• Style control: colour (Illustrator’s Color Picker, hex code or presets), stroke weight, opacity, dashed lines, and how far lines run past the logo.

• Flexible output: draw the grid as artwork or as Illustrator guides, place it above or behind the logo, and lock its layer.

• Live type works without converting it to outlines.

• Every element is a named group, so you can restyle, hide or delete parts in seconds.

• Remembers your settings between sessions.

Requirements

• Adobe Illustrator [2024–2026] on macOS (Illustrator not included). Tested on macOS; not tested on Windows.

• It’s a script, not a plugin, so there’s nothing to install except one file. Copy it into Illustrator’s Scripts folder and restart Illustrator. You can also run it without installing, from File > Scripts > Other Script…

• Works offline and collects no data.

Licence One licence per person, for personal, commercial and client work. The grids you make are yours to use anywhere, including in client deliverables. Please don’t share or resell the script. Full terms are included in the download.
