Le Billet Doux - French Collection
About
„Billet Doux“ - literally „sweet card“ - is another word for loveletter in French, with a slightly different connotation, though: Mainly during the 19th Century, it used to be a means of declaring one’s love for someone in a rather discrete and quiet way, by handing them a small handwritten card or note. And that’s exactly what this collection means to be: an hommage to the rich French culture and „savoir vivre“ as well as a declaration of love to Paris, their amazing capital. It’s quite an eclectic collection including more than 300 design elements from my personal archive of vintage and antique books, documents, and letters, which I (finally) started digitizing earlier this year, plus paper backgrounds and quite a few selected ephemera. (Actually, there’s even more, because there’re several full pages from antique catalogs featuring a lot more than just one illustration!) All of them come as PNG files without background, so they’re ready to be dropped into your design(s) - you won’t even have to change the blending mode! As Paris is a dream destination and travel topic for most of us (basically, for everyone not living there!), I added some travel themed illustrations (like hot air balloons, carriages, or ships) to the set as well as many postage design elements for writing home … or writing a „billet doux“. Previously, I gathered these design elements with my fellow journal makers in mind, but actually, the set is much more versatile: You may design patterns (e.g. for gift wrapping or even fabric), you can use them as overlays on your photos, create digital collages, posters, and many elements would make perfect additions to wedding stationery or cards, too. I hope you’ll enjoy this collection as much as I enjoyed creating it. Let’s dream of Paris together and happy designing! Love, Anja
