What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Prnt Glitch literally began exactly as that - an old beaten up, worn out printer, about to give up the ghost, and just before it inevitably would, I printed off a few runs of text to see what would happen. The first few came out ok, then it just descended into a whirring mess of broken toners, torn paper and jammed machinery, mix in a bit of 80's space race charm and the result is a gloriously glitched font.

Playing around and layering the font will give your project all sorts of magical outcomes, and I hate having duplicate styled letters, so each character, in each weight is unique - even the language bits.

There's four weights, all based on just how bad the printer actually got: • Light - things were blurry, but legible • Regular - notably something was going wrong • Bold - I wasn't sure if I should pull the plug or watch what happens • Heavy - I watched what happened, and it was good... messy, but good

The font's useable in Adobe CC, and probably some older versions (let me know if you have problems!), and is in OTF & TTF formats. Leave me a message with any questions!

This font is absolutely perfect for horror/sci-fi stuff! Honestly, now that it's almost Halloween, I've been getting a lot of mileage out of it. I really like how the letters are still cohesive enough to read, but messed up enough to make you feel ill at ease. Absolutely stunning!

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
