What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. BetterFly is a font that can be used for Canva and Templett! No additional licenses required.

BetterFly script is a little playful and eccentric, but at the same time elegant and harmonious with a slight retro style. It can be used both individually and in combination with strict sans fonts. It is not just a modern calligraphy script as it has its own mood and will not be confused with other fonts. BetterFly was created for real creatives, if you are used to working in applications like Canva or Templett, then this font is just right for you.

HOW IT WORKS

To add a unique look to any of the letters, simply use different combinations, For example, a] will turn the letter a into the final letter with an elegant bend, and if you type [b you will get the original letter with a tail, if you type + you will get just an alternative version of the letter.

HISTORY

BetterFly was first drawn in 2015 by Dmitrii Mikitenko from BlessedPrint and during 7 years many designers fell in love with it, but as time goes on, I wanted to completely redraw the font, preserving its style, but giving it a completely new quality and elegance. I also wanted to use all my technical skills. As a result, you can use the font in programs like Canva and Tempelett, and it's absolutely easy to apply alternative glyphs by typing just + or ] after any of the letters.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
