About the Product
Nitrate film was first manufactured in 1889 and provided an alternative to the fragile and cumbersome glass plate negatives used by photographers since the 1850s. Unlike glass negatives, chemical instability of the film base causes nitrate negatives to deteriorate. In the final stages of nitrate film decomposition, image loss is total. However, it also results in unique textures, vignettes, and frames ideal for contemporary use.
Nitrate Negatives includes 40 High Resolution, 300 DPI, PNG images derived from vintage film negatives, with Transparent Negative Space surrounding each image. Image sizes vary, but all are quite large ranging from 3600 x 5300, 12 x 18 inch -- to -- 7700 x 10100, 25 x 34 inch.
