About Creative Market Fonts

We believe that fonts have the capacity to tell a story, communicate ideas , stir emotion , and express intent. When you choose a font you’re not just choosing letters on a screen, you’re choosing from thousands of voices, styles, moods, and perspectives. Our catalog covers a wide stylistic range. Need a retro pixel vibe for your throwback design? Maybe you found our site looking for a sleek variable font to adapt seamlessly across devices. Perhaps a display font for your new site header? Whatever it is, we’ve got you covered. Our library includes everything from expressive scripts to no-nonsense monospaced families. We pride ourselves on unique, thoughtful design of every kind, which is how we’ve become the go-to destination for unique font families. What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. However, this is a nuanced topic - with a rich history, a range of opinions, and many different approaches. For a more detailed breakdown, check out our blog on different font styles here .

What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. For a fuller, more nuanced take (or if you just want to nerd out) you can check out a whole article about this topic here: What is a Typeface and How Is it Different from a Font?

What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Our e-pub licenses are best for ebooks and digital magazines - where you would want to embed the fonts directly into your files. Here’s a helpful walk through on font use in e-books! Creative Market also offers Worry-Free font licensing for enterprise clients. Learn more about our enterprise business offerings here . Still have questions about our licenses? Get more information about all of our font licenses here . You can also chat with our licensing assistant, Creative Mark, who can help answer questions. You can knock on his door in the bottom right corner of your desktop screen.

About

Kimochi is a modern Japanese-style sans serif font with a clean, geometric structure and a subtle cultural flair. Inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics, it feels sleek and futuristic, with a distinctive personality that stands out in headlines and branding.

The letterforms are wide and squared, drawn with smooth, even monoline strokes and softly rounded corners. Hooked, cut-in joins and flat-cut terminals add a techy, stylized rhythm to the simple geometric structure, while the open spacing keeps each word clear and easy to read. The mixed-case design gives it a playful, compact look at display sizes.

Kimochi bridges the gap between traditional Japanese-inspired style and contemporary geometric design, offering cultural character with a clean, modern edge. It's versatile enough to work across a wide range of projects, from bold headlines to branding and packaging.

It is equally well-suited to film posters, food truck signage, tourism campaigns, and anime-inspired album covers with a modern edge. It's a natural choice for sushi bar logos and YouTube thumbnails, plus book covers and Japanese restaurant menu design. Kimochi also shines in ramen bowl packaging, exhibition flyers, and anime intros, as well as product labels, Tokyo street-style themes, and app and website headings. It also covers event banners, ramen shops, Japanese culture-themed posters, and streetwear and t-shirt graphics. Whatever the project, it brings a sleek, Japanese-style presence wherever a modern cultural touch is needed.
