What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. The Dom Loves Mary Stylistic Calligraphy Font is a hand lettered classic calligraphy script. It's one of three styles available in this font family. If you look at the above graphic of the alphabet, you'll see what all of the letters look like.

The font also includes a set of flourishes and ornaments that are accessible in the glyph panel in OPEN TYPE CAPABLE programs like Illustrator and InDesign.

They are also represented in a graphic above. You can use them to embellish your project, and create frames and borders.

If you are working in Photoshop or Microsoft Word or another program that is not FULLY Open Type Capable, but you would like to have access to ALL of the extra characters, I have a great option for you!

There's an app called "PopChar" made by Ergonis that allows you to access ALL of the available glyphs. I use it myself. The regular price is $40. Your download will include both an OTF (OpenType Font/Format) and a TTF (TrueType Font/Format). The font is encoded for PUA ( Private Use Area) which allows you to use it with programs that are not Open Type Capable, like Microsoft Word, Silhouette, SCAL, Cricut and other cutting machines.

Dom Loves Mary is named in memory of my in-laws, Dominic and Mary Sementelli. Inspired by their 1952 wedding, I sought to create a classic, elegant script font that would serve their memory well.

Dom and Mary were opposites who were truly “made for each other”. A snazzy dresser, Mary was feisty, loved to dance, sing, and be the life of the party. Dom was cool, calm and collected and was happy to shine the spotlight on the love of his life. They balanced each other out in a really great way. Debi decided to create a hand-lettered font with them in mind represented by two totally different lettering styles, SCRIPT and TEXT, that were, like Dom and Mary, “made for each other”.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
