What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. The Crave Neue 2.0 will return refreshed in 2023. This year it has been totally renewed with some redrawn Cyrillic characters and the refreshed fonts of the Latin alphabet. Special characters have also been added; moreover, every weight has been given tabulated and old-style figures, too. Also joined to the font are some special pictograms. This typeface was made according to the needs of the times. It is very legible; besides, it is pretty transparent not to be intrusive on any surface. From now on, it is 7 weights, giving enough freedom to every field of usage. Despite its “grotesque” feature, it has some unique characteristics borrowed from handwriting for instance the lower case ‘k’ ‘l’ or the upper case ‘K’. Many letters have their alternative versions thus e.g. in the regular version the font ‘y’ ‘g’ or in italics the font ‘r’. The Crave Neue can be well-applied in a wide variety of layouts including mobile apps, magazines, newspapers, and books. The history of Crave Neue dates back to approximately 2008 when the first version was completed for Hungarian Airlines. In 2019, it was also included in Canva's offer. The typeface family supports 96 languages. It is available on every platform in Opentype and WebFont. Since September 2019, extended Cyrillic and Vietnamese support!

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
