Captain Terry - American Tattoo Font
About
Meet Captain Terry, a hand-drawn vintage sailor typeface inspired by the bold lettering, nautical flash sheets, and old-school tattoo shops of traditional American tattoo culture.
Rough around the edges and packed with personality, Captain Terry feels like lettering pulled straight from a weathered sailor tattoo, hand-painted ship sign, or vintage flash sheet hanging on the wall of a classic tattoo parlor. Its imperfect hand-drawn construction gives every word an authentic illustrated quality, while its quirky shapes and rugged character make it instantly recognizable.
Captain Terry is especially at home alongside traditional tattoo-style artwork—think swallows, anchors, daggers, roses, snakes, panthers, ships, hearts, eagles, mermaids, and other bold old-school motifs. Pair it with your illustrations to create designs that feel nostalgic, rebellious, playful, and genuinely handmade.
Perfect for tattoo-inspired branding, apparel, posters, logos, merchandise, beer labels, barbershops, motorcycle graphics, surf brands, nautical artwork, sticker designs, packaging, album covers, restaurant branding, signage, and much more.
Whether you're designing a vintage sailor poster, building an old-school tattoo brand, or creating artwork that needs a little salt, grit, and character, Captain Terry brings the unmistakable spirit of traditional tattoo lettering to every project.
