What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. I just LOVE boutiques and card shops, and all the unusual, eclectic goods you find there. Of course, I'm particularly fond of custom lettering - those perfectly, imperfect characters that make the work so unique. Sooo, naturally I had to give my own version a shot. ;) Now, I'm proud to introduce: Boutique Script, an organic, fun, & kitschy homage to the boutique-style lettering that I love so much. :)

Important stuff:

The .ASL file is HUGE, and it's gonna take a minute (or 5) to download, so PLEASE make sure the file is COMPLETELY finished before you unzip or the styles will be missing. If for some reason, you still don't see them, give me a shout and I'll send over a Dropbox link.
It's really nice to have that Glyphs Panel for the extra characters, but not necessary. If you have an older version of Photoshop, you can just cut and paste from the enclosed PSD file. :)
Yep, this works in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, InkScape, GIMP, Corel, etc...

Usage Ideas:

This font looks great on personal branding, business cards, stamps, quote posters and greeting cards. And don't forget wedding season! This would be gorgeous on Save The Date cards or invites.
Pair with watercolor or floral elements for a beautiful, trendy hand-lettered look!
Looks great at larger sizes, so feel free to go big! Make your branding pop!

How do I contact support?: For questions about this product, message the Shop Owner via their shop profile. For all other questions, like licensing or billing, visit our Help Center.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
