50 United States People Demonyms SVG

Even though I haven't traveled to all the states in the USA (God, I wish I could), at least I know someone who did! This design was inspired by an amazing American woman I met. She was older, but with such a young and adventurous soul. She told me she had traveled to all 50 states, mostly by cycling! Hearing her stories about taking things slowly (unless your bicycle goes really fast) made me appreciate how every state has its own beauty and character.

I’ve personally only heard stories about places like New York, but I’d love to visit at least five states someday, haha. Since traveling wasn’t possible, I started learning about the USA through Google, Wikipedia, and each state’s official website (some were great, some… well, very “government fancy”).

While creating these designs, I also learned about each state’s nickname and demonym or how people from that state are called. All of that inspired me to make this series while I was into documentaries about U.S. history. It turned into such a fun and meaningful process. Every design and typography in this set came from that same curiosity and excitement.

I discovered that all U.S. states are older than my own country, Indonesia, which is kind of mind-blowing! Americans should be proud of their history and spread more love by appreciating where they come from. ❤️

All source files were originally created in Adobe Illustrator CC 2023, but I saved them as *Ai and EPS for Adobe Illustrator CS6 so you can open them easily. I didn’t expand the text or line widths, so you can modify them freely**.

If you just want to change colors or use them right away, the SVG files are perfect and ready to go. My aunt uses them with her Cricut printer, and some of my friends use them with Cameo and Silhouette machines, so you’re all set, whatever you use.

If you’d like, you can tweak them yourself. For example, change “LOUISIANAN” to “LOUISIANIAN,” “IDAHOAN” to “IDAHOER,” or “BAY STATER” to “MASSACHUSETTSAN.”
