About

This effect simulates the reddish, diffused glow that occurs around bright highlights in analog photography. It’s perfect for giving your designs, product photos, or assets a nostalgic, vintage, and cinematic look.

Includes:

1 PSD file with automatic Smart Object layer
Help guides (Photoshop and Photopea)

Dimensions: 5000 x 3750 px, 300 dpi

Ideal for: Movie posters, vintage photography effect, and retro-themed branding.

Important:

Artworks are not included; these are for presentation purposes
Scene is static and objects can’t be moved
Feel free to toggle the filters according to your images

Pro Tip: This effect excels on images containing complementary blue and green tones in the shadows or mid-tones, as the warm, reddish halation creates a dynamic and striking cinematic contrast. It effectively simulates the characteristic soft glow and halo around pure white light sources (streetlights, windows, reflections) typical of classic monochrome film photography.

Friendly Tip: Your final look is 100% in your hands! The Halation effect works by enhancing your photo’s brightest highlights (streetlights and reflections). For perfect results, feel free to adjust the Threshold and Gaussian Blur to fine-tune the glow. Play with the intensity until you achieve that ideal cinematic aesthetic.
