Oblq BoldRot | Horror Display Font
About
Meet BoldRot, a heavy, rough-edged display font made for projects that need a dark mood without shouting. Every letter has chunky strokes, worn corners and a slightly uneven rhythm, as if the type has been left to decay in a forgotten attic. The look is spooky and easy to read, which makes it a good fit for anything cursed, eerie or a little unsettling.
BoldRot works well for horror movie posters, game titles, book covers, album art, Halloween campaigns, event tickets, merch, t-shirt prints, potion labels, packaging and social media posts. The extra-bold weight stays readable on dark and busy backgrounds, and pale purple or bone-white lettering on near-black gives the best atmosphere. You can also add your own texture or grunge effect on top for an even more aged look.
The font includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numerals, punctuation and extended Latin accents (307 glyphs), so it supports many languages. It comes as an OpenType (.otf) file and installs like any standard font on Mac and Windows. It works in most popular design and layout software. BoldRot looks best at medium to large sizes, where the rough edges and character really show.
