What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. However, this is a nuanced topic - with a rich history, a range of opinions, and many different approaches. For a more detailed breakdown, check out our blog on different font styles here .

What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. For a fuller, more nuanced take (or if you just want to nerd out) you can check out a whole article about this topic here: What is a Typeface and How Is it Different from a Font?

What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Our e-pub licenses are best for ebooks and digital magazines - where you would want to embed the fonts directly into your files. Here’s a helpful walk through on font use in e-books! Creative Market also offers Worry-Free font licensing for enterprise clients. Learn more about our enterprise business offerings here . Still have questions about our licenses? Get more information about all of our font licenses here . You can also chat with our licensing assistant, Creative Mark, who can help answer questions. You can knock on his door in the bottom right corner of your desktop screen.

About

Egants is an elegant luxury serif font designed for bold and stylish visual projects. It combines strong letterforms with smooth curves and refined details. As a result, your typography gains a rich and premium appearance.

The font has a high-contrast structure with thick strokes and thinner lines. However, its overall shape feels warmer and more expressive than a classic fashion serif. This balance gives Egants a confident yet graceful personality. Therefore, it works well when a design needs both impact and elegance.

Bold Letterforms and Stylish Curves

One of the strongest features of Egants is its expressive lowercase design. The curved forms of several letters create a soft rhythm across words. Meanwhile, the uppercase letters bring a strong and polished look.

Egants also includes decorative ligatures for selected letter combinations. These ligatures create attractive connections between characters. In addition, they can make brand names and short phrases feel more unique.

Because of these details, Egants is especially effective in large display text. Use it for logos, headlines, posters, packaging, and fashion campaigns. It also works beautifully for short quotes and creative titles.

Perfect for Fashion and Branding

Egants is a natural choice for fashion branding and modern lifestyle projects. It can add character to clothing labels, beauty brands, and jewelry packaging. Likewise, it fits hotel identities, restaurant menus, and premium product designs.

The font is also suitable for magazine covers and editorial layouts. Furthermore, it can bring a refined touch to social media graphics, advertisements, invitations, and website headers.

Create a Premium Visual Identity

For the best result, use Egants at medium to large sizes. This helps its curves, contrast, and ligatures remain clear. You can also pair it with a clean sans serif for supporting text. As a result, the expressive headline remains the main focus while smaller text stays easy to read.

Key features include:

High-contrast serif design
Bold and elegant letterforms
Expressive lowercase characters
Smooth and distinctive curves
Decorative ligatures
Luxury fashion character
Strong display presence
Refined editorial style
Excellent logo potential
Ideal for branding and packaging

Overall, Egants brings a confident and stylish voice to modern typography. It feels luxurious without being too formal. At the same time, its unique curves give each word a memorable look. Therefore, Egants is a strong choice for designers seeking expressive serif typography with a premium fashion edge.
