What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. I want you to meet the Josefina Family!

Josefina is a bold, rough, and textured dry brush font inspired from the golden age of hand painted chaotic posters and banners. This font is reimagined in use for modern minimalist designs. It's an all caps font but the uppercase and lowercase letters is painted differently to give a more authentic handpainted style.

This font also includes a cleaner version that is best for retro modern designs! Josefina Clean and Josefina Outline.

Josefina doesn't only come in one retro style but it also includes fonts that can be used perfectly as headers and/or subheaders.

Josefina Stout is a shorter and much weighted font that can be used for slogans or anything that could complement the tall Josefina font. It can also be used as a stand-alone font for logos and/or titles.

Josefina Thin is obviously a much thinner font. It is somewhat the same size as Josefina Stout but is weighted less. Also ideal for slogans and/or logos and a text font for websites or minimalist kind of graphic designs. It's also best for books that are vintage in aesthetic because of its handwritten look.

All font styles have an italic option.

And for an added bonus, the Josefina font is bundled with the Eleanor Rigby Script Font! A modern retro script font inspired from the 80s!

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
