What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. With a loud style and a distinctive urban flow, this font is perfect for creating hand-lettered quotes, logos and printed designs which take the modern hand lettering trend to a whole new level. Also included is a bonus swash font, consisting of 6 various swashes designed to give your text that extra detail and custom-made appeal.

What's Included? More details below;

Ghost Type is a set of upper & lowercase characters which includes a large range of punctuation glyphs, numerals, and multilingual support. There are also some additional glyphs in the Stylistic Alternates and Discretionary Ligatures features, to ensure certain letters look correct in different scenarios. These are accessible in the Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop Glyphs panel.

Ghost Type Alt is a set of alternate characters for the lowercase Ghost Type glyphs, designed with additional upper, lower, or end swashes. These were put into a separate font file to allow for easier access.

Ghost Type Swash is a set of 6 hand-drawn swashes primarily designed to underline your Ghost Type words. For more advanced users, they also give you the possibility of adding your own custom swashes to letters with a bit of extra imagination!

TTF and OTF files are included for all three.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
