What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. About

BaeSide is a modern Blackletter display font with alternates that have an ornate flair. BaeSide was designed as a display font for tattoo shops, drink labels, clothing labels, etc. But hey...surprise me :) Font comes complete with loads of alternates, ligatures, bonus flourish elements, and ornaments pulled from some of the capital letter forms. This font is not multilingual, but does include all of the basic latin numbers and punctuation characters.

NOTE: BaeSide is a single font with alternate characters inside the font itself. To access the alternate characters, select the character you want to change, right click the character and a menu of the alternates will show below that character. Then simply double click the character you want to use instead. Alternatively, you can use the glyphs panel in whatever application you are using to view all of the characters in the file.

The bonus swashes and ornaments have been added as alternate fonts. Capital letters will display them. Lower case letters will display a mirror image of the capital letter versions.

EXCELLENT font, love it. I'm using it in Inkscape and unfortunately the alternatives are not coming up. I'm really bummed about that as that is a big part I was looking forward to. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the late response. I've been away for the past week. Now, I know anything about Inkscape. The alternates are included as an additional font. You load them like any other font. Type capital letters to display them. Lower case letters will display a mirror image of the capital letter versions. If you mean the ligatures, just a quick Google search returned this: Accessing glyphs To use glyphs in Inkscape, you can open the Character Map on a PC or the Font Book on a Mac. If you use the Font Book, make sure repertoire mode is on to see all alternate characters for a font. Adding glyphs to a font To add a glyph to an SVG font in Inkscape, you can: 1. Open the Layers dialog 2. Add a new layer and name it after the letter 3. In the Font Editor, click Add Glyph in the Glyphs tab 4. Name the glyph and enter the corresponding letter in the Matching String field 5. Draw a closed path for the glyph on the canvas 6. Select the glyph and the corresponding row in the dialog 7. Click Get curves from selection

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
