The sakura blossom, or Japanese cherry blossom (prunus serrulata), is one of Japan’s national flowers. From budding to blossoming to fully blooming, these delicately crafted illustrations show the stunning pinks of the spring cherry blossom display. Cherry trees abloom stand out brilliantly against the backdrop of Mount Fuji; a girl holding a sakura branch underscores the beauty and reverie of the springtime inflorescence.
Striking on postcards – or posters for cherry blossom festivals. Illustrations included: six bright watercolor backgrounds, two landscapes with Mount Fuji, “sakura” in Japanese characters, girl with sakura branch, pagoda, blossoms, branches, green leaves, and cherry trees in bloom. Over 60 illustrations in total.
