What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Ready to make the alphabet loads of fun? These cute fonts, illustrations, and graphics are perfect for classroom decor, kids' room decor, for elementary teachers creating worksheets, presentations, and other graphics. They would even be perfect for kids' toys or product design, or branding for a company oriented towards kids.

The centerpiece of this collection is 26 illustrations, one for each letter of the alphabet, most of which depict different animals (with some exceptions, like Q for Queen, V for Volcano, etc). The style is hand-drawn and fun, with textured edges, bright colors and lots of little patterned details to give them character.

There are two fonts included in this set: one standard font that would be compatible with any software (without the animal illustrations), and one raster color OTF font, which includes the animal illustrations on the capital letters. InDesign CC 2019+, Illustrator CC 2018+ and Photoshop CC 2017+ are Adobe’s only apps that officially support & display color fonts. It is also compatible with some MacOS apps like Pages and Keynote. Please make sure you have the correct compatible software if you plan on using the color font! Even if you cannot use the color fonts, JPG, PNG, and AI files are included of each animal with their letter.

Also included in this set are some bonus illustrations of different shapes and weather icons, as well as 7 different paper/background designs. These are supplied with and without a white space in the middle for content, and given as Letter, A4, Powerpoint slide, and square sizes, to make them easy to use for worksheets, presentations, and more.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
