What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. About

Meet Madfish, a family of 4 fonts: Script, Serif, Sans and Sans Rough. All fonts are made to work perfectly both on their own and with each other.

Madfish Script is a Bézier-perfect extra slanted script with a ton of alternate characters and swashes. You can access the alternate glyphs and swashes in any application that supports Opentype features (such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign) as well as from the Glyphs Panel (under Window Type Glyphs in Illustrator). All alternates are PUA encoded and accessible under Character Map in Windows and Font Book in Mac.

The alternate characters are also added as a separate font, Madfish Alt, to make it easier to access in non-Opentype applications.

Madfish Sans is a hand drawn sans serif that combines the power of a classic sans serif typeface with the charm and friendliness of hand made creative work. It also comes with a rough version, Madfish Sans Rough, which works very well in logos and headlines.

Madfish Serif is an all-caps hand drawn serif that has a strong enough character to be used on it’s own but it also works beautifully as a complement to any script or display typeface. It also works particularly well in small sizes.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
