FAST & CLEAN

One small stylesheet, almost no JavaScript and self-hosted fonts (Fraunces and DM Sans), so there are no Google Fonts requests. Fully responsive on desktop, tablet and mobile.

REQUIREMENTS

• Self-hosted WordPress 6.6 or newer (WordPress.com needs a plan that allows custom theme uploads).

• PHP 7.4 or newer (8.1+ recommended)

• WP Recipe Maker, a free third-party plugin from the WordPress plugin directory, for the full recipe card (not included in this download, no paid plugin needed).

• WebP support in PHP if you use .webp photos

Anise is a standalone block theme. It is not designed for page builders such as Elementor.

HOW TO INSTALL

• Download the files and unzip the download. Inside you will find anise.zip and the PDF guide.

• In WordPress go to Appearance > Themes > Add New Theme > Upload Theme, choose anise.zip (do not unzip it), then Install Now and Activate.

• Install WP Recipe Maker, then go to Appearance > Anise Demo and import the demo content.

GOOD TO KNOW

• The demo import is best used on a new site: it sets the site title and homepage, and one click on "Remove demo content" undoes it.

• The newsletter section contains a sample form. Paste in the embed code from Mailchimp, ConvertKit, MailerLite or a similar provider.

• The Contact template has no form of its own. Add a form block from any form plugin (WPForms, Contact Form 7, Fluent Forms and others).

• Write your site in any language: all text is editable in the Site Editor. The bundled fonts cover Latin characters; right-to-left layouts are not tested

LICENSE

Anise is released under the GNU GPL v2 or later (the license Creative Market provides for WordPress themes). Bundled fonts Fraunces and DM Sans are under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
