What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. About

The Constructivist Font #3, is named in the honor of Theo Van Doesburg (Christian Emil Marie Küpper), one of the founders and leading theorists of De Stijl, which began in the Netherlands and flourished into one of the major inter-war movements. It advocated a simplified, geometric, and reductive aesthetic in the visual arts and argued that painting, design, and architecture should be fully integrated. Van Doesburg created numerous abstract paintings and designed buildings, room decorations, stained glass, furniture, and household items that exemplified De Stijl's aesthetic theories and his personal ideas. He wrote numerous essays and treatises on geometric abstraction and De Stijl, published journals, and organized many exhibitions of works by De Stijl artists and related movements.

Why an De Stijl artist is included in The Constructivist? Because both movements are a part of the post-WW1 avantgarde, and because both movements although, taking different routes of what they want to express and portray, they end up using similar materials to create the effect. Both use geometric shapes and lines consistently and rely on abstraction to make their point. And Van Doesburg also has a lot of great pure constructivist artworks.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
