The Creative Market team is growing! We would like all of you to meet Ben, our first ever services engineer. Ben is focused on improving, speeding up, and scaling a lot of the backend processes that are crucial to making Creative Market work. It’s safe to say that he’s already an integral part of the team! That being said, we’d love to help you get to know him a little better.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do for Creative Market.
I’ve spent the bulk of my career building large scale web services. As the first “services” engineer at Creative Market, I’m working on building and improving behind the scenes pieces to help us move better and faster.
What were you doing before you joined the team and how did you and Creative Market “find each other”?
Until now I’ve worked primarily at different enterprise infrastructure-as-a-service companies, building performance monitoring tools. Creative Market came up as a great opportunity to work more directly in the consumer space and learn a bit more about how infrastructure gets used.
When not at work, what do you do for fun?
I spend my off-time not thinking about code, reading, and cooking.
*Side note, Ben has already brought homemade treats into the office to share with everyone multiple times. He’s obviously a good cook, and we’re happy to reap the rewards of his cooking adventures!
Do you have any go-to music when you’re working?
If it involves a pop diva or slightly unpopular alt-rock, I am all over it.
What inspires you creatively?
I do my best and most creative work surrounded by kind people who push themselves, and everyone around them, to be better.
Any parting words of wisdom?
Life is too short to cater to what others want you to be; do you.
