Yikes. With a headline like that, you’ve got to wonder where this is coming from. Well, Reddit, naturally.
This post hit /r/design yesterday, and it refers to a book called Trademarks & Symbols of the World (possibly this one) from 1988. The Next Web picked up on the story, and now it’s all over the place. Here’s the picture from the book:
And here’s the Airbnb logo:
Now look, creative ideas come from all over, and yes, the Airbnb version is a bit taller. But they do look awfully similar, and since one is a trademarked logo from the ’80s, you’ve got to wonder, right?
