Welcome Paul to the Team

Kyle T Webster April 11, 2024 · 3 min read

Today I have the honor of introducing a new Creative Market team member to you. Meet, Paul Filitchkin. At Creative Market, we seem to have a knack for hiring people with the same name as current team members (did you know we have three Chris-s on our team?). Mr. Filitchkin is the second Paul on staff, but his birth-name is “Pavel,†so we’ve started calling him that to avoid confusion. Pavel was previously the co-founder and CTO of Snapwire, where he was building an on-demand stock photo marketplace. He has since moved up to San Francisco and joined the Creative Market team, where he’ll be focused on improving our search experience, along with helping out in other backend development work so we can build new features even faster.
We’ve been on the lookout for somebody like Pavel for a while now, and we’re so happy he has joined the team. Let’s get to know him a little better, shall we?

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do for Creative Market.

I am a nerd extraordinaire with a deep appreciation for art and design. It’s quite fitting then that I joined Creative Market as a web engineer with a primary focus on search. It’s always exciting to use technology to help users find what they are looking for, and I can’t wait to make an impact.

What were you doing before you joined the team and how did you and Creative Market “find each other”?

I met the Creative Market team through a collaborative project at my previous company, and I really dug what they were doing. One thing led to another, and I found myself jumping at the opportunity to join the team.

When not at work, what do you do for fun?

I love to hack on side projects, ride my bike, take photos, and spend time with my wonderful wife, Rose.

Do you have any go-to music when you’re working?

Pretty much anything from the Above & Beyond Group Therapy podcast. Good beats influence good code.

Have you seen any products here on the site that you especially like?

I really love the selection of flat icons on Creative Market, and have used a few sets for my wife’s business MyFamilyLine.co. I think they work great for personifying historical events and presenting data in a user-friendly way. I think design is really important when presenting data.
Here are some of my favorites:

What inspires you creatively?

The most important thing for me is to find that intersection between what I love doing and creating something people want. When I work on something that falls into that zone my creativity is instantly fueled.

Any parting words of wisdom?

I think it’s important to appreciate the awesome things in life. In today’s information-driven world it’s all too easy to get caught up in negative news and dwell on things we don’t have. We sometimes forget how much we do have and what a great chapter in history we are taking part in.
