What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. IMPORTANT To install & use the SVG version of Seaside you have to have Photoshop CC 2017 or Illustrator CC 2018 or newer. Otherwise it won't work. SVG is such a new format that older programs don't support it. BUT I have included a layered psd file of each individual character. So if your program isn't compatible, you can just piece the textured letters together!

Give my new Seaside Font Collection a warm welcome! This font is my very own watercolor brush writing. This was truly a labor of love and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. The font collection includes two distinct upper and lower case font faces in addition to TWO font textures.

Seaside Texture OTF: This is an Open-Type SVG font which essentially means it keeps all that beautiful watercolor texture with it which allows for endless color and texture options!

Seaside Solid OTF + TTF + WEBFONT: This is the standard vector font that that you are used to using. This one is a solid so there is no texture to these letters. This can be used and installed on any versions of Photoshop and Illustrator because it's just a normal vector.

CONFUSED ABOUT SVG: Don't worry! I've included an SVG DIRECTIONS manual in this bundle where I explain step-by-step how to install and start designing these awesome fonts!

Don't have a software that supports Open-Type SVG? No biggie! I've included a layered psd file that includes all of the textured characters. You can simply piece your words together letter by letter to with this file while still getting the textured look!

Seaside is currently English-only but I did throw in some multi-lingual symbols to get you started!

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor. You can learn more in our Help Center about OTF special features and installing your new font.
