What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Terrazzo Color
A color font family inspired by the form and colors of terrazzo tiles. Designed as a bold and stylish display type, it’s suitable for posters, editorial design, advertising, presentations, book covers, social media posts, products and even walls! The colors instantly give a decorative look to blocks of text and the customization options provide flexibility to set the desired tone with four, three or just two colors. Suitable for setting headlines and longer texts, Terrazzo Color also contains a regular black version.

Includes 6 styles with different color palettes
Terrazzo Color comes in 6 different OpenType-SVG fonts with built-in color palettes. Each color combination has been created with tones and shades of traditional terrazzo tiles including one to be used on dark backgrounds.

Color use alternates
Developed as an all-caps font, the lowercase characters include alternative use of the color palette for the respective uppercase character. Just turn caps on and off to try out different combinations.

Chromatic layers
The layered version comes in 4 layers to create your own color combinations. The colors are carefully distributed across layers to match the look and feel of the tiles.

Includes regular version
A regular black OTF/TTF font is also included in the pack and can be used as a stand-alone font.

Multilingual support
The character set is based on Adobe Latin 2 (extended to include Turkish) supporting most Western languages: Afrikaans, Basque, Breton, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, Gaelic, German, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Sami, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish and Turkish.

Technical specs and requirements

• Opentype-SVG fonts are compatible with Adobe Illustrator CC 2018, Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 or later, Adobe InDesign CC 2018 and QuarkXPress 2018. A detailed list of supporting software can be found at https://www.colorfonts.wtf

• The layered font can be used in any desktop application just like a regular font as long as multiple text boxes can be placed on top of each other. For chromatic typesetting, stack the layers in desktop apps from Layer 1 to Layer 4 and apply color to each layer separately.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
