What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. This sans serif display typeface barrels out the gate with bold geometrics.

Type Specimens Geo Fitz is perfect for projects that aim to make a statement with modern flair. With Geo Fitz, you possess a leeway on your levers of readability: Fill your canvas with larger-than-life ALL-CAPS characters to challenge your audience. “Are those design-y shapes, or letters?” If your goal is more readability, use sentence case and adjust your type size accordingly to express your point in style. If clean lines and a designed look is what you need, Geo Fitz takes a bold geometric bite.

Typography Talk A typography sommelier might describe Geo Fitz as such: “For the uppercase, there’s strong bouquet of closed counters and fat-forward stems, with an interesting play of negative space and angles especially in the letter N. There’s a taste of playful counterpoint between pointed join and smooth curve most notably on both the uppercase and lowercase S. Geo Fitz keeps you on your toes with the lowercase, wherein in contrast to the beefy uppercase stems, there lies a trace of twiggy ascenders and descenders.”

Background The challenge was to express each character in the most efficient way possible, while keeping things interesting by contrasting simple shapes with angled serifs. The name of this typeface was inspired by a nightclub for tweens where I grew up. It was so random! I wasn’t a cool kid in grade school, so I never went, and it was probably just as well, because it was NIGHTCLUB FOR TWEENS WTF.

Awards No big deal/whatevskies, but this font won an American Graphic Design Award by GDUSA and an Honorable Mention in the 2023 Creative Communication Award by C2A.

Font Infusions was also a winner of the National ACE AAPISTRONG Proudly Unstoppable Fund.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
