What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Type Specimens If your project needs to look unmistakably handwritten, this breezy and beautifully raw typeface is for you. Get those characters extra large on the page to show off those textures. If you have a personal quote to share, a smaller type size will communicate your sentiment splendidly. The versatility of Nifty & Swifty gives you an edge in your digital art box, since it can work for a variety of messaging, from feel-good and heartening to pointed and stern.

Typography Talk This typeface is all about brushy textures, swashy exit strokes, and forward angles for momentum. Look out for a sprinkling of stylistic alternates and ligatures for an organic feel. Characters stand independently with no connecting strokes for a casual effect. Curved and swooshy descenders of the lowercase d, g, j, and y add a touch of flair. And the pointed upward exit strokes made with a flick of the wrist in the lowercase a, c, t, v, w, and x adds a winky dash.

Background This typeface started with experimental play with a pocket brush pen.

More texture emerged with faster pen strokes, which was fabulous because texture is my catnip. “Light and fast like a fox” was my mantra when crafting this, so I knocked out the basic alphabet in one whoosh-filled sitting. When I expanded the character set with punctuation, diacritics, and symbols, I made sure to stay speedy. The result is a handwritten typeface with nifty and swifty whooshes for your fonting pleasure. (Typeface name note: Elder millennials, if you watched the cottagecore cartoon ‘David the Gnome,’ you might remember that the gnomes’ loyal fox was named Swift.)

Awards No big deal/whatevskies, but this font won an American Graphic Design Award by GDUSA and an Honorable Mention in the 2023 Creative Communication Award by C2A.

Font Infusions was also a winner of the National ACE AAPISTRONG Proudly Unstoppable Fund.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
