What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Hamburger is a new font based on the old classic Brush Script.

In this new 2023 version we've back slanted the font to make a near upright version, a lot of hand editing was needed to create the upright version.

We've also created two more versions with higher x-heights, Hamburger X has a little higher x-height while Hamburger SPX has what we call a Super x-height.

The higher x-height versions are well suited for signage, with a higher x-height the font is more easily readable from the street when used as sign lettering on the front of a retail store.

The higher x-height versions are also easier to read when used as logos and lettering on commercial vehicles.

We've also made a small caps version, in the small caps font we've moved the swashes on the lowercase letters inward so they will display closer together. The uppercase on the small caps is the standard uppercase.

We also made an all caps version that follows the same design idea as the small caps version.

Over the years we've watched how people use this old script font and in some logos or some words it works as an all caps font, this is why we've made the caps and small caps versions.

We've also made changes to the original lowercase "b" "g" "u"

We've moved the long uppercase "C" into an alternate position and made a new uppercase "C" that matches the baseline of the other uppercase letters.

We've also added many new alternate glyphs including swash underscores.

We know that you're going to find many new uses for this new Hamburger font.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
