What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Hello everyone... it has been a year I have been working on this typeface. There were many odds, and difficulties, but in the end I made in , in collaboration with Samicreations ( from fiverr).. As you can see, this typeface looks very similar to the old original vintage Barbie Mattel lettering. Well, yes. I made it on purpose since years ago I was looking for this specific font and I discovered...it just didn't exist. In fact, Mattel never released a font for this, but it was just a custom lettering. So, I made a research and recollect all the images of old Barbie packaging were the old lettering was visible; many letters were not available so I retraced each one by one, first in raster, then in vectors. I tried my best, this is my first typeface ever, I hope you will like it, and please alert me in case of issues. This is a Photoshop typeface, you will download an otf and ttf file Have fun! ( does not contains numbers or glyphs or any kind of extra symbols or ornaments).

Is this copyrighted? ©

✅ As far as we know, Mattel Barbie never copyrighted this specific font, which was in use from 1975 to 1991. In 1991 the font and logo changed again, with the use of the Barbie Medium, Italic, Brush Script, and eventually the new font still in use now, the Dollie Script. Dollie Script is trademarked as the OFFICIAL BARBIE LOGO FONT. It does look that the vintage one has what I would call a "copyright loophole" , as this was in use as a custom font, which means they only created the letters they needed for the packaging. This led us to create the missing letters both in capital and non capital, as we thought could be the best match for the letters we had.

I can't get this font to install and other fonts install just fine. I would recommend searching for Retro Dolly and Classic Dolly elsewhere online. They are much easier to use, and free.

This is fine for small text, but when you zoom in on this font, it looks like it was image traced. Real inconstant edges. Not great for larger text or large prints. Buyer beware.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text.
