What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Lakeshore is the modern, hand painted font that you've been looking for. Each character was carefully painted (often more than fifty times) until the results were nothing short of perfect. A ton of detail was preserved when the characters were digitized, so that large letters will look fantastic up close.

What's Included:

Lakeshore Regular - The standard version of the font. Perfect for titles and logos.

Lakeshore Italic - This is the italic version of the Lakeshore font series. Great for blocks of text and more aggressive looking titles.

Lakeshore Swash - Need a cool underline under your text or a splash of paint? This font set has you covered. Type any letter a-z using this font, and you'll get a unique swash to accompany the font.

Language Support - We've added in a great deal of extra characters to support many different languages.

Commercial/Extended License - This is in your design arsenal for life! Use on end products for sale is permitted with the standard license.

Alternate Ligatures - Even though this is an uppercase font, the lowercase characters will give alternate uppercase characters. In other words, 't' and 'T' will give different capital T characters, which gives you variance to work with.

Font doesn't work as stated. Does not have a 'brushed' look, its a solid type font. Definitely Not recommended.

Each character was brush painted by hand and then vectorized to get the brush look exactly as shown in the type tester and preview images. The offer still stands to troubleshoot the issue, but you denied any help and would not provide proof showing different results than what is presented.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
