What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. About

Always Thankful is an hand painted font pack containing two Opentype SVG fonts. These Opentype SVG fonts keep all of the transparency and texture of the original painted letters. Always Thankful will make your design projects burst with character and charm, and will make your design projects a breeze. Each letter and symbol was hand painted, and I probably went through over 300 pages of painted letters to get the perfect letter combinations down.

What’s included:

Always Thankful - Regular Version - This font contains tons of glyphs and language support. Each lowercase letter also has an alternate version, so that you can mix things up a little bit to your liking. All the symbols and punctuation glyphs are there as well.

Always Thankful - Caps Version - This font contains different capital letters using both lower and uppercase characters, so that you have alternates for each letter. There is a ton of language support, as well as full symbols and punctuation.

Versatile Font Formats - Both fonts are available in the stunning new Opentype-SVG format, which contain all the photo-realistic nuances. They are also both available in traditional vector formats (OTF/TTF). These are great traditional options for use in other programs, including earlier versions of Photoshop. In fact, they'll work with basically any program that accepts custom fonts. This version is also great for blocks of text and small print.

Swashes/Splatter Brushes - I’ve included a bunch of background streaks and splatters to help spice up your designs.

Instructions and Tips - Since Opentype SVG is a little bit new on the design scene, I've included instructions for installation, as well as tips and tricks to get the most out of your new Opentype SVG fonts.

Requirements:

You need to be using Photoshop CC 2017.1.1 (or later) or Illustrator CC 2018 (or later) for the Opentype SVG fonts.

Don’t have the latest Adobe programs? You can still use the vector versions of the font, which are compatible with practically any program that accepts custom fonts.

Supported Languages - French, Spanish, English, Catalan, Galician, Basque, Portuguese, Italian, Albanian, Afrikaans, Dutch, German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Faroese, Icelandic, Irish and Scottish.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
