What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. About

This font family release is inspired by the semi-abandoned mining town of Jerome, Arizona. It is reminiscent of the classic condensed and wide-serif headlines you might find in the newspapers or painted on storefront signs from that era.

JEROME ONE (which has a rough, hand-drawn outline) and JEROME TWO-FOUR (which has the same rough, hand-drawn outline as well as varying degrees of distressed halftone) are supplied in both .OTF and .TTF versions. Each font has upper and lower case as well as numbers and special characters. This family supports multi-lingual so If I have missed anything please let me know. A set of matching wide versions of each style is also included. All version have built in imperfections that will display differently at different point sizes. The letter spacing is intentionally loose to give it that old-time look and feel.

These are best used with Illustrator or the like where you can see/access all the glyphs. Photoshop Creative Cloud users now have a glyphs panel as well so you can easily access any character.

Additional Notes:

Switching the anti-alias setting to "smooth" in Photoshop may produce the best results.
JEROME should perform better in opentype applications.
Also included in this are 6 bonus distressing screens in vector as well as hi-res, transparent png's.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
