Letter is a WordPress theme for counselors, therapists and psychotherapists in solo private practice. It reads like a letter from you: calm, personal, and clear about what a nervous visitor wants to know first. What it costs, what happens in the first session, and where to turn in a crisis are all there before anyone has to ask.

Try it before you buy. Open the live demo and click through every page. The Customise tab on the right lets you try all five colour palettes (or mix your own), the three font pairings, the corners, and all 8 headers and 8 footers.

Set up in about ten minutes, no code. Letter Setup opens when you activate the theme and asks you step by step, with your site shown live beside it:

- Your practice name, logo and contact details, entered once. The lines that show them stay connected, so a new phone number is changed in one place.

- Your style: five colour palettes or your own colours (Setup checks every pair, so everyone can read your site), three font pairings, corners from square to round, and 8 headers and 8 footers, chosen separately.

- Your pages: Home, About, How I work, Fees and insurance, Questions, Book a free consultation, Website privacy and Writing, with menus, made from Letter's own designs.

- Optional free plugins: Contact Form 7 (installed and set up with the ready form), Yoast SEO and a security plugin. Letter Setup installs the newest version that works on your server.

A privacy-first enquiry form. No message box, on purpose: clients shouldn't type health details into a website form. The ready form asks for a name, how to reach them and a good time. With the free Contact Form 7 plugin, messages go to your email and are not stored on your site.

The pages a practice needs. Your first sessions in three steps, your approach instead of client testimonials, fees as clear lines with a sliding scale and superbills, a Good Faith Estimate notice for self-pay clients, questions and answers, a privacy page, your writing, and a crisis line on every page (988 and 911 in the US, or your own country's numbers).

Hand-drawn details, no code. Margin notes, hand-drawn underlines and ticks, a side column for photos and short quotes, and a signed sign-off, all added in the WordPress editor.

One click, another look. Most sections come in two or three layouts made of the same blocks: the opening on a dark sheet, on plain paper or as a postcard; fees as ledger lines, price notes or a price list; your writing as a list, cards or titles with dates. Your words and prices stay when you switch. A private Component gallery page shows every section and look.

Accessible, and tested. Built for WCAG 2.2 AA. Every page is tested in every colour style at phone, tablet and desktop width: no automated WCAG 2.2 AA violations, visible keyboard focus, readable contrast in hover and focus states, reduced motion respected, and no sideways scrolling at 320 px or 200% zoom.

Help when you need it. A PDF setup guide in your download, and online documentation with search, screenshots and short clips. Every step of Letter Setup has a Help link to the right page.

Nothing loads from other companies. Fonts are bundled and served from your own site. No tracking, no external scripts, no page builder and no required plugin.

Requirements

- WordPress 7.0 or newer (tested on 7.0.7 and 7.1.3), PHP 7.4 or newer.

- Contact Form 7 is optional. Its newest version (6.2 and newer) needs WordPress 7.1 and PHP 8.3; on older setups Letter Setup installs the newest version that works on your site (for example 6.1.7 on WordPress 7.0).

- No page builder, no paid plugin.

Not included

- Legal or clinical advice. The privacy, Good Faith Estimate and crisis texts are starting points: check them for your state and your practice.

- HIPAA compliance. A website theme can't make you HIPAA compliant: keep clinical information in your secure client portal or EHR.

- Hosting, a domain, email delivery (if test messages don't arrive, that is your host's email setup).

FAQ's

1. Do I need to know code? No. Letter Setup asks for your details and your choices step by step, with a live preview. Everything else is changed in the WordPress editor.

2. Do I need a page builder or a paid plugin? No. The recommended plugins are free and optional: Contact Form 7 for the enquiry form, Yoast SEO and All-In-One Security.

3. Are the photos from the demo included? Three free CC0 photos are included. The other photos in the demo and the preview images are for preview only; your download has simple placeholders in those spots.

4. Is Letter HIPAA compliant? A website theme can't make a practice HIPAA compliant. The enquiry form asks for no health details on purpose; keep clinical information in your secure client portal or EHR.

5. Can I use my own booking tool? Yes. The Book buttons go to your Book a free consultation page, and the ready Booking widget pattern takes your booking tool's embed code.

6. Which WordPress version do I need? WordPress 7.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. Letter was tested on WordPress 7.0.7 and 7.1.3.

7. WordPress says "The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet". What now? You uploaded the whole download. Unzip it first: inside is the theme, lavanta-letter.zip. Upload that file in Appearance → Themes → Add Theme → Upload Theme.

8. Can I change the look later? Yes. Open Appearance → Letter Setup again at any time, or change styles in Appearance → Editor.
