Grainy Gradient Shapes

A collection of abstract geometric vector shapes in soft color palettes, featuring a delicate use of gradient grain for each design.

Each shape comes in three variations:

• an outline shape,
• a simple gradient shape,
• and a grainy gradient shape.

All shapes and variations are carefully organized and fully editable in Illustrator.

With this pack, you can create stunning textiles, wallpapers, branding elements, packaging, posters, stationery, flyers, covers, web banners, newsletters, social media content, labels, stickers, wrapping paper, and so much more.

What's included in the ZIP file?

32 Shapes (in three variations)

• AI and EPS10 files with a single artboard containing all shapes
• AI file with an artboard for each shape (to facilitate exports of separate files)
• JPG file and PNG file with transparent background for each shape (3500x3500 px)
• SVG file for each shape (editable in Canva, Figma, Affinity designer and others)

*SVG files do not include shapes with grainy gradients.

Technical note – Add or edit grain in Illustrator

To create the textured gradient with grain, I first duplicate the vector shape I want to apply the grain to. On the duplicated shape (placed above the original) I change the color, then open the Transparency panel and create an opacity mask, making sure to uncheck “Clip.”

Next, in the same panel, I click the white thumbnail (the empty mask) and draw a rectangle covering the shape. On that mask, I apply a black-and-white gradient, then add a Grain effect (menu Effect – Texture – Grain).

Tip: My file is set to 300 dpi. You can increase the grain intensity by lowering the document raster effects resolution via Effect – Document Raster Effects Settings (for example to 150 dpi), or soften it by increasing the size of the shapes in the file.

Additional note: The grain can be significantly intensified by choosing the “Stippled” option instead of “Regular” in the Grain settings panel.

Important: After editing the mask, make sure to click back on the left thumbnail (the shape thumbnail) in the Transparency panel. Otherwise, Illustrator keeps you "inside the mask," and you won’t be able to select or edit your shapes normally. A common point of confusion when a mask has just been created.

Editability: Each grain effect is fully editable. In the Layers panel, you’ll find the shapes that contain a mask and a grain effect.
