FAQs
- How can I use these patterns?
- You can use the PNG or JPG files by simply importing them into your design software in Photoshop. Scale, layer, and apply them as backgrounds, textures, or fills to your projects such as packaging, stationery, textiles, and branding.
- What is a PAT file?
- A PAT file is a Photoshop Pattern file. It allows you to easily apply the seamless patterns to any shape, background, or layer directly inside Adobe Photoshop using the Pattern Fill tool.
- How do I install and use the PAT file in Photoshop?
- If you have a .PAT file (Photoshop Pattern file), click the menu icon (three lines) in the Patterns panel. Select Import Patterns or Load Patterns. Locate your .PAT file on your computer and click Open. The patterns will now appear in the panel.
- Can I use these patterns in Canva?
- Yes! You can upload the PNG or JPG files into Canva and use them as backgrounds, textures, or fills in any project. They work perfectly for digital planners, social media posts, presentations, and more.
- Are the patterns seamless?
- Yes, all patterns are seamless and designed to tile perfectly without visible edges.
- Can I edit the colors of the patterns?
- Apply the Pattern: Create a new layer and apply your pattern using the Paint Bucket Tool (set to Pattern) or a Pattern Fill Layer (Layer New Fill Layer Pattern). Add a Color Layer: Create a new layer above the pattern layer. Fill this layer with the color you want to apply to the pattern (use the Paint Bucket Tool or press Alt+Backspace / Option+Delete with a color selected). Create the Clipping Mask: Right-click the color layer and select Create Clipping Mask, or press Alt (Windows) / Option (Mac) and click between the two layers in the Layers panel. The color will now "clip" to the pattern, meaning it only shows where the pattern exists, effectively recoloring it. Fine-Tune the Colors: You can adjust the clipped color layer’s opacity, blending mode (e.g., Overlay, Soft Light, Multiply), or even add multiple clipped layers with different colors for a gradient or multi-tone effect. Use a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer (clipped to the pattern) for further tweaks.
