Naive Pixel Jacquard 8bit Patterns
About
Two worlds — counted-thread embroidery and pixel sprite art — finally admit they've been speaking the same language. This set is the conversation.
Stitch is built from the ground up on a visible square grid — the same structural logic that governs a cross-stitch chart or a Fair Isle knitting map. Every motif advances in diagonal and mirrored increments, never freehand. The repeats carry the symmetry of counted-thread technique, translated straight into vector. That grid reads two ways at once: as a textile charting system, and as 8-bit sprite art. The set leans into both registers rather than picking one. The motif range pulls from several folk traditions, all united by that shared formal language. Heraldic fleur-de-lis, Eastern European diagonal lattices and cross-form rosettes, Ottoman-Persian boteh in teardrop paisley-adjacent forms, farmhouse sampler friezes with goats and florals arranged in horizontal registers, maritime sailboats and a lighthouse, and argyle/plaid lattice structures all sit inside it.
Nothing here is soft-edged. Fills are flat vector color, with no gradient, no shading, no grain. Module edges keep their crisp, stepped pixel-art "staircase," left unsmoothed on purpose.
The palette is maximalist and saturated rather than faded-nostalgic. Magenta-pink turns up most often as a ground color; cobalt blue dominates the fleur-de-lis and floral motifs; forest green sits in as a recurring dark contrast ground. Marigold pairs consistently with magenta in the boteh motifs, poppy red carries the hearts and vertical floral stripes, and ivory, pale sky blue, and mint step in as lighter grounds. The pairings run complementary and near-complementary throughout, with no tonal softening anywhere in the set.
