Devils Town | Vintage Horror Font
About
DEVILS TOWN is a hand-crafted vintage horror and Halloween display font inspired by old horror film titles, ghost towns, haunted houses, vintage block type and strange hand-painted signs. Made from scratch by hand.
Created for Halloween posters, October events, horror film screenings, haunted houses, spooky parties and supernatural artwork, Devils Town takes the chunky familiarity of old display lettering and twists it into something much stranger.
Imagine a forgotten town after dark — old signs hanging above empty storefronts, curtains moving in abandoned windows, a mansion somewhere on the hill and the wind howling through the streets.
The letterforms are deliberately imperfect and filled with small unsettling details. The T spreads like bat wings or a pair of frayed hanging curtains, while the S sits somewhere between dripping blood and a row of strange teeth. The counter of the A resembles a tiny candle flame or a curtain beginning to open, while the O feels almost like an open mouth.
Across the alphabet, pinched waists, bulbous ends and uneven curves begin to resemble bones, joints and strange little limbs. Letters wobble, sag and flare in unexpected places, shifting between playful, vintage and slightly sinister depending on how they're used.
The result sits somewhere between a ghost town, an old mansion on the hill and the title sequence of a forgotten horror movie.
Although designed with Halloween and horror projects in mind, Devils Town isn't strictly seasonal. Its strange vintage character also works beautifully across music artwork, gig posters, book covers, merchandise, packaging and eccentric Americana-inspired branding.

PLEASE NOTE
Devil’s Town is an all-caps experimental display typeface intended primarily for headlines, titles, posters, logos and short pieces of expressive typography.
The uneven widths, irregular curves, unusual proportions and strange little details are intentional and form part of the character of the font.
While Devil’s Town is particularly suited to Halloween, horror and October event design, it was created as a broader vintage display face rather than a strictly seasonal Halloween font.
Print textures, photographs and styling shown in the preview images are not included.
