Copy Dept FX — Xerox Typeface Family
About
Copy Dept FX — A Xerox-Style Font Family
Copy Dept FX captures the raw texture of photocopied print: scattered toner, worn surfaces, bleeding edges and the imperfections of repeated reproduction. Fifteen distinct styles share the same letterforms, letting you move from a restrained printed impression to dense grain and digital disruption.
Designed for posters, editorial layouts, book and record covers, labels and packaging. Mix contrasting styles or let one texture define the composition. Every effect is built into the letterforms—no additional filters required.
The family includes 15 styles, each containing 292 glyphs, with Latin and Cyrillic support. Supplied in OTF and WOFF formats.
The 15 Styles
-
Typewriter A lighter, more restrained impression with uneven edges and a worn mechanical feel. Ideal for captions, short text blocks and contrast with heavier styles.
-
Airbrush Dense letterforms surrounded by soft, finely speckled edges. Creates a diffused, stencil-sprayed appearance that becomes especially expressive at large sizes.
-
Bleed Heavy, roughened contours suggest ink spreading into absorbent paper. Adds weight and a saturated printed texture.
-
Diffusion Alternates sharper details with grainy, dispersed areas. Its uneven texture evokes a photocopy slipping in and out of focus.
-
Diffusion Bold A heavier interpretation of Diffusion, combining substantial letterforms with selectively scattered edges for stronger headline impact.
-
Distressed Small chips and missing patches interrupt the printed surface, recalling a worn stamp or repeatedly reproduced document.
-
Drip Bold letters with drops extending below their edges. An expressive choice for short headlines, music artwork and experimental posters.
-
Glitch Horizontal breaks and displaced fragments interrupt the letters. Brings digital interference into the family’s photocopied aesthetic.
-
Halftone A fine, regular dot pattern recalls screened print. Enlarging the type reveals the texture within each letter.
-
Inverse Reversed letters sit inside a solid printed strip. Creates strong highlights and the appearance of pasted text fragments.
-
Pixel Stepped contours and a square structure reinterpret the letterforms through the visual language of low-resolution screens.
-
Polka Dots Larger circular openings create a distinct pattern inside dense letters. More pronounced and decorative than the fine Halftone texture.
-
Roughen Coarse, irregular edges give the letters a rugged printed finish while maintaining a strong, readable silhouette.
-
Scratch Fine surface marks suggest scraped or worn ink, adding detail without overwhelming the underlying letterforms.
-
Spray Scattered particles extend around the strokes, creating an airy aerosol texture. Best appreciated in large, expressive typography.
Please Read Before Purchasing — File Size & Compatibility
The detailed textures are built directly into the font outlines, making some files significantly larger and more demanding than conventional fonts. Several OTF files exceed 10 MB, with the largest approximately 17 MB. File size varies by style and format.
On older or less powerful devices, installation, font previews and text editing may be slow. Some applications may struggle to render these fonts, become unresponsive or fail to load them.
Before purchasing, please confirm that your intended software and device can handle large OpenType fonts with complex outlines. OTF support alone does not guarantee smooth performance with heavily textured fonts. Performance depends on your application, hardware and the amount of text used.
