What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Forestelly is a premium modern calligraphy connected font that is made for wedding invitations, envelope art and especially small creative businesses logos (like photographers, calligraphers, artists, handcrafted items creators, Etsy sellers...)

Forestelly comes in two font styles - normal and bold (you get 2 fonts for one price) and 23 left and right flourish swatches for both versions. Normal style is more modern and looks beautiful especially in bigger font sizes - it's great for both screen and print. Bold style has more calligraphy look. Swatches are in separate font and therefore are very easy to use in any software (like MS Word). You don't need any advanced software with open type features to use those beautiful swashes!

Open type features (in software like Illustrator, Indesign or Photoshop) come handy when you want to use ligatures though.

Yes, both styles of Forestelly are full of ligatures like ff, th, tl, fl, mn, aa, bb, cc, dd, ee... Basically when there are 2 of the same letters next to each other, your software uses a ligature so those 2 letters looks not exactly the same which gives your text more realistic "hand written" look.

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
